Fier will be supplied 24 hours a day with drinking water

A rehabilitated network, in many of its newly built parts, provides uninterrupted supply of potable water and significantly improves the quality of service. This thanks to an investment of over 11 million euros, which has enabled replacement of the old water supply network. The network was lying in some neighborhoods where it was missing and until yesterday suffered the most of the lack of water, it was replaced in some areas and built from scratch in other parts of the city. Investment in Fier water supply was provided by the Municipal Infrastructure Program, funded by the German government, the Swiss government, the European Union and the Albanian government.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Damian Gjiknuri and German Ambassador Susanne Schuetz were present at the inauguration of the new water supply.

This program has rehabilitated water supply and sewerage systems for the cities of Lezha, Fier, Saranda, Gjirokastra, Berat, Kuçova, Lushnja and Kamza. At the end of investments in these cities, about 635 kilometers of new water supply network, about 23 thousand new connections and rehabilitation of existing connections, about 30,000 new installed meters, has been benefited, serving a new water supply network of about 300 thousand inhabitants , as well as improving the service to some 200,000 others in these cities.
